Swing your partner round and round! Never fear, our caller will give you a lesson in the art of the square dance before the hodown begins! Do-se-do till the cows come home! (…. they’re usually back at around 9 pm).
The square dance consists of blocks of four couples arranged in a with one couple on each side, facing the middle of the square. Square dances were first documented in 16th-century England also quite common in France and throughout Europe. American square dance can be traced back to European folk dances from England, Scotland, Scandinavia, and Spain, when Europeans settled the North American colonies, they brought their folk and popular dance traditions with them.
The 36th Annual Southeast Florida Scottish Festival & Highland Games was a huge success. We sold our scrumpdiddlyicious candied pecans, Margaret’s original paintings, stationery and other items hand made by members of our Women’s Association. We brought our fluffy bunny for the kids to pet, – and it must have a lucky rabbit’s foot, because a certain Rev. Dr. David Massey won himself the SASSF grand prize !

Robert Burns Luncheon
Thanks to all of the hard working cooks and crew for putting this very special event luncheon together.
Special thanks to Nigel MacDonald, Vice President of Scottish American Society of South Florida, who lent his lusty piping and Scottish burr to the afternoon’s festivities.
👍 You done our Rabbie proud!
